/ what we did and how we did it

For the last 8 years, First has shared its Christmas message with the world…online. As you can imagine this has saved quite a bit on print and postage, enabling First to donate thousands of pounds to its charity partner – Save the Children.

In addition, the First festive message is a lot more exciting than the average Christmas card. Last year for example, the online e-card combined moving images, including Fifi the fabulous First fairy, a festive soundtrack and an online game of penguin bowling! As you can imagine, First’s e-cards have become an eagerly anticipated Christmas bonus, helping the company to reflect its dynamic, inventive, generous and people-loving personality.

Digital also proved the way to go when it came to launching First’s new FTR service.

The FTR is a sleek, futuristic, articulated bus which looks like a tram. Being a bus, it can drive on existing roads though, making it a great option for cities that don’t have tram tracks. Fittingly, we launched the FTR at the Magna Science Adventure Centre, to help highlight its superb design and space-age style look and feel. In addition, we wanted everyone to be able to experience the FTR. So we kept with the space-age theme and shot an online video featuring fast-moving fly-throughs and 360° shots of the new bus, recreating the feeling of what it’s like to ride.

Video allowed us to really do justice to the FTR while online was the perfect place for the world to view it – in all its glory.
