The future of train advertising is here – NOW!

First TransPennine Express is another client who found our creative solutions cost-effective. We were asked to create and implement a campaign to advertise their advance fare prices.
The campaign was highly targeted and split into distinct areas with audiences that included:
- customers who normally travel by car, who could be attracted by low fares and persuaded to swap to trains instead
- long distance leisure travellers who plan ahead and are more price-sensitive than other segments - they tailor their plans to obtain cheaper tickets
- we also wanted to stimulate demand in customers who might not intend to make a leisure journey, but might be inspired by low prices
Having considered the brief fully, we were keen to offer the campaign a fresh, futuristic look. We focussed our campaign on outdoor media, radio advertising, and online activity. Our ‘Star Wars’ theme looked and sounded great, with a message that “sometime in the future all train fares will be as good as this”. This brought the concept of advance fares to the target audience in a humorous and relevant way. It also positions First TransPennine Express years ahead of their competition.
We devised eye-catching posters, online banners and dramatic radio adverts to efficiently communicate the three key messages: great value for money fares, journeys to amazing destinations, and the opportunity to save money by booking in advance.
