Speaking Your Marketing Language
Monday, June 25, 2007
Nottingham-based marketing agency, Lawrence & Pierce has decided it’s a good time, with the nationwide furore over the Olympic logo, to speak plainly. They’ve launched an advertising campaign locally aimed at highlighting their understanding of local, regional and international markets.
L&P have designed and implemented a humorous, advertising campaign, using both local and national dialects to highlight their ability to speak all “marketing languages”. The advertising, which has been dubbed the “does tha do tha marketin’ thasen?” campaign, uses a variety of regional accents to demonstrate the agency’s ability to communicate with everyone.
L&P are based in a former warehouse on Canal Street, which has been converted into spacious offices. Coincidentally, the warehouse was built as a hub for the transport of local industrial products, and L&P have a portfolio of clients in transport and industry, among other sectors. The building is a symbolic link to the industrial heritage of the area and part of the reason for running this campaign.
Martin Lord, L&P’s Managing Director, commented: “For this campaign we wanted to show how our philosophy and background is based on understanding clients’ and their customers’ language. We’re constantly developing new and innovative marketing ideas and this gives us the opportunity to do something slightly different and more interesting.
We’re an outward-looking company who’ve been bringing business into this area for twenty years. Our clients come from a variety of places, including Scotland, Geneva and London. But as we employ local people and outsource work to local service companies, the whole area benefits, as a result of our work.
The campaign hints at the work we do with industrial clients but we’re specialists in many different languages, including: foreign, cultural and industry-specific. We do all sorts of work and have been known to spend the morning talking to engineers on manufacturing sites in hard hats and hi-viz tabards and the afternoon communicating with the fashion-conscious in lifestyle stores.”
