OK, it’s pitch black out there, why do I hear alarm bells ringing? It’s the middle of the night!
And why as soon as my eyes are open do I go into work mode and run through all the projects that need to be finished over the next few days? It’s madness, at least try and wake-up serenely...
Up now and showered, wake Charlie up, my eleven-year old Rottweiler who doesn’t like to be woken before 07:30 - coax him downstairs to have his breakfast (notice to have his breakfast, no mention of mine!) make sure he is fed, has made a visit into the garden and safely settled down again before I leave home. Remember to leave a note for my neighbour who is looking after him today that he has been fed. Absolutely no time to take things at a gentle pace must crack on and get 100 things done before my mobile starts ringing and I hit the M1 for yet another early morning drive to meet a client in Kent to discuss their new vehicle branding. Have I got everything? Vinyl samples; laptop; visuals etc...
At least I’ve got a few hours in the car so I can get the planning right in my head for this project. There’s so much to do for this one, in such a short time, but then again, what’s new? I’d get bored if we had the luxury of time on a job.
Wow, I’ve been driving for nearly three hours and it’s still too early to ring into the office to brief the studio on other work to do today and to go through things with Katherine. Have left her a list of things to do, but need to go over a couple in more detail; interior signage catalogue; 48 sheet poster site bookings; radio and TV spend for a new site opening; order some paint samples; send off the brochures to Geneva; remember to check the HD files before uploading to website; don’t forget to ring David about the Edinburgh vehicles, don’t forget emails to Germany about the new trains, talk to exhibition organisers about the LIS stand; remember to send the media schedule to Victoria for the new fare campaign...
...the list is endless and I really should concentrate on where my nice lady on SmartNav is sending me.
Getting sidetracked now must return my thoughts to the day ahead.
It’s important this meeting goes well as we will be responsible for planning, management and implementation of the new branding we have proposed across the UK - great project to get our teeth into.
Eventually get to speak to the office and have driven Katherine over the edge as too much for one person to do in a week let alone a day, she’ll need to get reinforcements from the other support staff today for sure.
The studio don’t want to talk to me as they already have too much to do that I left last night. Oh well, get back to the job in hand as just pulling into their car park.
16:30 - a long but very successful meeting, start back home now in the wonderful traffic already at a standstill on the M25.
Bit of Bon Jovi now to try and relax a little, not too loud that the Jeep bounces down the motorway...
Switch on cell to pick-up messages from clients and check with the office all OK, try to return as many client calls as possible tonight, as tomorrow is going to be just as manic.
...but loud enough to remember being at the concerts every year. Some Robbie, Snow Patrol, Justin, Duffy, Scissor Sisters etc... to last me the next four hours driving home.
Just realised will miss Corrie tonight and have not set Sky+... if only I could remember how to set it via my mobile!
Ah bliss... it’s just before 9:30pm and am arriving home. Have debriefed in my head from the meeting, things to pick up on and get sorted quickly.
Make a fuss of Charlie, have a quick bite to eat (realised not eaten since 7pm yesterday. Yes I know it’s bad for me... should eat properly), take Charlie for a walk, catch-up on Corrie on ITV2 (remembered the re-run) then off to bed to start again tomorrow... now is it Leeds or Wembley??
